The Shower of Youth

The spanish sought the fountain of Youth so that they might live forever. Kings courted alchemists who promised eternal youth through the philosopher’s stone. The Greeks had legends of Ambrosia that would make you a god. In all ages and every walk of life, spanning continents and countries there is the yearning for the elixir of life. In our modern era, I think we have stumbled upon a very minor yet undeniable smidgeon of eternity: The Hot Shower.

Y’all gone off your meds mumbles

Here me out on this one, it’s fun. When you have had a hard day at work or have done manual labour where do you go to leach the pain out of your muscles and loosen stiff joints? The shower. When you are sick and have a head so stuffed up it feels like bursting where do you go to steam out your sinuses and breath easier? The shower. When you’ve had an emotional catastrophe and the world doesn’t make any sense where you seek rejuvenation? The shower.

The shower may not bring back the vibrancy of youth but it can still make you feel years younger and temporarily restore mobility to tortured muscles. It relaxes, rejuvenates, and helps one spring into action in the dim light of dawn. The warm water that flows from the shower head certainly seems to have magical properties to soothe the soul and body. You could even make the case that it invigorates the mind as well, after all “Shower-Thoughts” are a thing widely discussed on the good old interwebs.

May the shower of youth always flow, it’s warm embrace may be the closest we get to eternity.
