Isaac’s Super Power

This is Isaac

He is the fluffiest crosseyed doofus you will ever meet. Isaac is a lot like a living stuffy, he’s always up for a cuddle and nap time is his favourite time of the day. Little did we know that beneath that fluffy exterior lurked a superhero

Shortly after a fairly severe concussion, I started having panic attacks. These panic attacks would start at random and occurred several times a day. Throughout this period of time Isaac was always around he’d be lying near me or on me and his weight and gentle purring always helped a lot. I didn’t notice until much later, once I had gotten some medication to help with the panic attacks, that Isaac always showed up a few minutes before one would strike.

We still don’t know how he knows

Every time I ended up having a panic attack Isaac was there. He became my little purring guardian. We still don’t know what it is he picks up on that signals a panic attack, the other two cats have never reacted in this way, yet he would appear without fail right before every single attack. His most surprising appearance was when he managed to detect an issue with an entire floor and closed door between us.

I had been playing some video games and the effects from a certain mission triggered a really severe panic attack and sensory overload. It was bad enough that I had to go sit in my closet to get away from the light and sound of the world. Isaac had been sleeping downstairs during this but within moments of closing myself in the closet, I heard a tiny mew and a bap bap bap on the door. I cracked open the door and in walked Isaac. He curled up on my lap and immediately started purring until the attack had passed.

Herr Doctor

We’ve taken to calling Isaac the doctor because of his strange sensitivity to people’s health. While soothing those undergoing panic attacks is the most obvious behaviour he is also very perceptive of when a person is sick. If you are sick Isaac will find you, and he will cuddle you, he will even exhibit the unique behaviour of “no you can’t get up”. If you try to get up when Isaac thinks you should be resting he will put a single paw on your chest and make a tiny mew. He keeps that paw there until you lie back down too.

If you are sick, if you are sore, Isaac will be there. He always seems to know right when you need him and will appear slightly with his gentle rumble and concerned face. He is a one of a kind floof.
